About the Marlins

The James Island Marlins first organized in 2014 under the leadership of Bernie Myatt.  After going just 8-11 in their first 2 seasons under Myatt, the organization made a change in leadership and personnel going into their 2016 campaign, and they haven't looked back since.  Currently in their 6th year in the Charleston 38+ MSBL,   the fighting fish have compiled a a 41-17 record (.707).  Since assuming the helm in 2016, skipper Kyle Fritzinger has led the team to an impressive 34-6 record (.850), added 2 league championship trophies to the case, along with 2 division pennants, and 2 all star appearances, both as a coach and player.   Fritzinger's .850 win percentage over his coaching career is unmatched by any other coach in league history.

We feel that we have curated a group of ballplayers with whom we have commonalities as far as our love for the game, our emphasis on the team rather than the individual, and our desire to improve year-over-year while keeping it an enjoyable experience for everyone in both dugouts.  While many of us have long since given up our dreams of getting paid to play, the friendship and bonds formed on our teams through the years are enduring and have enabled us to continue to play the game we love for much longer than any of us could have envisioned.
